a friend has been offered a very nice w210, 2001, E240 2.4 v6. 80k history but he asked me about that engine and I have no experience of it, so over to you guys, is it a good lump any problems that may arise etc any tips most welcome, thanks Rap.

Don't hear much at all from these. If it's low on rust and the price is agreeable then go for it

I think the later ones are actually 2.6 even though they are badged as e240

engine question

thats what i thought, but the owner says its 2.4, I think there may have been a cross over 2.4 / 2.6 perhaps in that year? but only guessing, back to you guys, its a spotless car not a mark on it! just the engine question he has asked me? cant answer! yet!

Apparently these engines have 8 litres of oil (sump) capacity.

Yes the 112 and a good lump,, around 23-30 mpg, if a CAT did fail you can cut one out and they still pass the test

Mine is on 240,000 miles and has been badly neglected for the last 50k and still powers on, great engine. Im sure it will be a 2.6 though (not that it makes any real difference)
