Hi to all,

Just a warning if you want to remove the central trim be careful how you you do it.

I was too forceful and damaged the heater control unit. One of the flat connectors came off and despite soldering it back on only the temp controls and the air distribution settings work. The fan stays on at mid speed. It can not be changed.

Does anyone know where I could get a second hand one?

I've posted a couple of photos.:

That should be the same then, no change after 1999.

If there is any problem I can take a look at your old one

It's up to you.

I can send you mine and if you can repair it then fine.

Either way what are the charges? I live in London.

Thanks.

I would not worry about any little charge that I may make.

I cannot guarantee to fix it and that is free,if I cannot, up to you

Thanks television.

Let me know where to send it. If you cannot fix mine than I would be interested in the one you have.

As for the money l'll pay for the postage both ways or if you are not too far I'll drop it off. Also let me give you something for your trouble.

The man is a legend!

No I am not,,just that all of these things are so easy to fix, well for me anyway, the trouble is that after 58 years of repairing things I do not like sitting in thew workshop anymore, I know that I could have fixed instrument clusters etc, and I have done a few of those, I could fix Comands as well, but all of the hassle of wrapping things up and going to the post office is not one of my strong points. We all get old.

I have been outside most of the morning painting my lamp post in the sun, thats what my old dad did all of his working life, and he was a very clever guy

It is a rare occurrence today to come across a person who is truly willing to help, goes the extra mile every time to help, gives help freely and without strings, is genuine and uses his expertise, knowledge and contacts for the benefit of others and never asks for anything in return very rare indeed and it is to my loss that I have never had the pleasure of meeting this man in person but will one day rectify that and until then will admire and respect him through this electronic if impersonal medium.

I agree. Malcolm has contributed enormously to this forum and I am sure that many members have benefitted from his help. We all owe him a hearty thanks.
