W210 key not recongized

    my w210 key has got a problem.....even though when i prees lock button the light works, the car doesnt lock....and when i try to ignite it .....it doesnt ignite.....it doesnt recognize the key........what can i do?

    Does the key actually turn in the ignition lock

    the car has 2 keys.....a reserve and the one that has the problem that has been working for some time now.....i can enter the key but because it isnt recognised it cant turn.....the reserve key work but i want this one to work too

    If one of the long keys and it will not turn, then the transponder coil broken, but if not locking as well it could be past its best and and new one required

    You could ask mark if he can do something cheaper than MB

    I can reprogram the older style keys to work fully again!

    Its life is around 100,000 uses and that's usually around 10/12 years of using the car!
