I know this has been covered before but can someone advise how to move the ajuster and in what directoin (situated under a cover plate beneath the rear seat) I attemted this today and I was unable to move it even though all components seem quite free.

A word to the wise: in attempting this adjustment I noted a black plastic cap atop the adjuster linkage and thought "Ah take this off and you will find the solution" - oh no you don't because beneath that black cap lurks a coiled spring which goes up faster than Zebedee with his arris on fire! So after many frustrating minutes and a few sore fingers it went back to whence it came.

Spray it with WD 40 and leave it for a bit, do the nut up tightens it, its sometimes easier to turn the nut in the oppsosite direction a couple of turns to free it up. this is a handy tip for tight screws that you cant undo, tighten a little first.
