My rear wiper stopped working in last weeks snow accompanied by a smell of electrics ovferheating. I am assuming it is shot, but would like some advice on what it might be and how much a replacement might cost.

In addition I have not been able to check the fuse, as my owners manual has no key to the fuses - does one exist? Where can I find out which fuses do what? I've searched the forum to no avail ...

Thanks,

Jon

Hi Jon, the other posting on the same subject is mine!

The first fuse to check is under the rear seat on the o/s, in the same compartment as the battery, fuse 19, it´s a great big 40A one. There is also a fuse in the box under the bonnet on the n/s but can´t remember the number (poss 41?)
To check the motor you´ll need to remove the tailgate trim, remove all the plastic trim plugs, and then slide it upwards towards the glass. If you haven´t done it before they are a work of art to get back on, so you´ll need some patience!
Supply a 12v feed to the motor and see if it works, if not you´ll need a new motor, but hopefully it´ll just be the fuse.

Pete.

You have possibly striped the nylon gears in the motor, to confirm follow Peters advice and then remove the gear cover, see pictures, post #17, HERE the motor pictured will not be the same as yours but works much the same way.
