Could someone please advise which inner trim panel should be prized off first to gain access to all the rest.

I need to remove the door rubbers so that I can repair the rust patches and I don't want to start prizing off panels in the wrong order as they all seem very tight - and I don't want to break any of the fittings.

Thanks in anticipation.

You mean the door rubbers at the top? You don't need to remove the door card, I did mine the other day and its very easy to remove/replace them insitu.

Just grab the rubber near the mirror and start pulling it free from there. The corner of the door will be tight, but it removes quite easily.

To reinsert, I just used a blunt flat edge and a bit of elbow grease.

Beware that you will chip off bits of paint from the edges of the metal on the inside of the door frame as you re-insert the rubber after you've fixed the rust. My advice (with hindsight) would be to paint a bit of waxoyl in the slot, before you insert the rubber.

I used POR15 products to do mine.

Thanks for the advice.

I take you point about the front doors however I also need to gain access to the rear door edge but the rubbers are clamped beneath the door trim and the window pillar trim panels (I have those so-called honeycomb effect screw-on panels whose bottom edge are also clamped beneath the door trim). So as far as I can see, I really need to remove the inner trim.

For the front door:

Remove the SRS airbag tab with a blunt edge, flip it out.

On the metal door opening lever, put a blunt plastic edge above the hinge end of the metal lever (between the metal and the plastic parts), and prise the top of the plastic surround partially out, before moving to the bottom of that plastic surround inbetween the cloth/leather and the plastic and prising the bottom out.

Under the door handle (the big plastic one), theres a plastic tab to remove.

Remove the courtesy lamp from the bottom of the door card.

Unscrew all visible screws.

Working from the door catch, use your blunt edge to prise the door card away, then move to the top edge by standing outside the door, and prising the card away (inwards toward the driver seat).

The door opening lever has a hook on the back, unhook it and the door card should come away.

The rear door is almost exactly the same.
