2. repaired sill.
3. repaired quarter panels x2, rusted.
4. new boot lid.
5. rust spots on all doors, resprayd.
6. full valet.
price in excess of £2500.

ive got to say, i am absolutely made up with the work but i get to keep my motor, and in good condition. Thanks to mercedes direct, manchester, they took me on when 4 others would not. I had ownd the car for 3 years, not got a full service history but it worked and mercs upheld there warranty. Thanks to you for bringing this into the open. cheers.

My W210 estate is 6 years 8 months old and I raised the issue of bad rust at the back door handle with the dealer while it was in the other day. They're doing a warranty claim file for it, yet to be sent off.

However, it occurred to me, given the 8 year cut off that MB seem to have now for rust that I should do a full body check and get it all sorted if possible.

Now, I intend to be buried with this car (or at least move my second kid to their university digs and buy a sports car on the way home in 16 years time) so I'd like to make sure I'm covered. However, the signs of rust in many places (especially the doors) is pretty minimal. Also, the wheel arches rust is entirely in pretty non-visible places.

I assume this will spread, but am I going to have any luck getting it sorted under warranty at this point?

(number 3 in a continuing list of snags that I've decided it's my life's mission to sort out!)

Hi All

Am I sensing a change in the dealerships' attitude to warranty work? The discount vouchers I received from the local dealership suggests they are attempting to win owners back.

I feel sufficiently encouraged by the above tale that I may take my rusty door issue to the dealer and attempt to make a claim. It's the door that was repaired under warranty twice before. Unfortunately the rust is breaking out in a different place.

T212 facelift, 2013. A few toys including pan roof, 19" rims, Harmon Kardon, nappa, privacy glass.
Kallisiti,

Had two new wings under warratny for my 2001 T210. The rust was literally the size of match head and had not broken the paint. It was on the inside lip if the arch and spotted by a very proactive and helpful merc bodyshop guy. They shot blast itand determined the wing should be replaced as the metal was still black.

My advice is get it done now, rust will never go away, if you leave it you are putting off the inevitable. As mentioned on this forum by others, just because one dealer says no under the warranty, dig our your yellow pages and find another and keep going.

I was really pleased with how mine was handled and the end result (can't stop cleaning it now !)

Good luck

Adam

Ive mentioned previously on the forum that i took my car to four dealers who turned me down flat... i dont understand why because they need the work and they will get paid by mercedes, its not an insurance claim etc for us, thats why i couldnt understand the reluctance by other dealers.

If i was to advise anybody i have to say dont give up, try someone else, if you wait then there is only you to blaim for not getting a free job done. yes its a bit awkward not getting a cutesy car, but i never asked for one so thats my fault. My car is 8 years old on the 22 April so they brought my apt forward to make sure i was covered, and now ill tell you what...its great to drive in my baby again and it looks a million dollars. the new models are fantastic but i love mine its a tractor a tank a barge and it rumbles when turning over its a beaut. and now its shiny as well thanks to maguires, yes i ran out and bought some strait away.

Apologies for not having any photos yet, i cant find the before shots so ive email;ed the dealer to ask if they will send me the ones that they took, I can only try.

Ian.
