w210 V6 mystery clip

I recently changed the 12 sparkplugs in my E280 (with great difficulty!) and after putting everything back, I discovered a clip under the car which probably came adrift while I was busy with the job. I have searced the engine bay but cannot seem to find an appropriate place for the clip.
I have taken a picture of the clip, which measures 2.5cm. It is clearly meant to clip onto two small pipes of different guages.The clip sections swivel.
Any bright ideas?

I would suggest that the clip is to keep a hose or metal pipe separated from one of the spark plug leads. You will need to look where the two come, or may come together. I suspect that the larger clip is attached to a metal pipe rather than a rubber hose as this would potentially cause a problem more so than contact with a rubber hose.
I think this goes without saying.... but do not touch the leads with the motor running otherwise you may experience, first hand why the two parts were meant to remain separate.
