I know this has been asked before, but some time ago...............I want to replace the wheels on my E-class, (avantgarde) they have the diamond cut type 17" x 7.5" with a 37 offset) that AGAIN have corroded. I want to keep the same size, but not have the issues that I have now. Anyone had the same problem and upgraded the wheels, if so what wheels did you use and where did you get them from.

Thought about painting them bright silver, but not too keen on this solution.

Are there AMG wheels that size that would fit, don't mind secondhand wheels that I can refurbish?

All suggestions and help much appreciated.

High Malcolm,, a good solution is to have then re coated in the chrome paints, the clear lacquer never last long. All new MB wheels use this chrome paint.

Thanks Malcolm - have thought about painting, but can't decide, that's why I was thinking of a different type of wheel.

Would I have the same problem if I was to paint my diamond cut wheels as I thought it was the design profile where the wheel studs are that causes the problem in the first instance (suppose I could "turn" the profile on my lathe?)

By the way the link you show is for the company I used 10 months ago and the wheels are already corroded again - so can't recommend them :-x:-x

Its the process not the company,,no one guarantees the clear lacquer for for than 3 months, this is why MB stopped using it,,why not have a word with these people and explain your position and they may chrome paint them for a good price, I would never have the clear lacquer again

I fitted some Tolimans

of the same dimensions from a w211, bought from Kiwibins. Just needed the adapting wheelbolts and lock from performance alloys for about £ 60. They look a lot smarter and more up to date.

only on my mobile phone Malcolm

and I haven't the kit to download them, or a contract that allows me to send them. They do look the part though, even the tyre fitter at my garage, who works on lambos and ferraris and other exotica thought they set the car off really well. There were some on sale on e-bay a while back, from MB Stoke, but they were the wrong offset.
I'm going to refurb the avantgarde wheels with this chrome paint television recommends. I might even take before and after pix and post them up.

Does any one have pics of MB wheels that have been 'chrome painted' on their car that we could have a look at - reason is my alloys are in need of refurbish or replacement and I would like to see the finished article on a members car rather than a (possibly)touched up photo from suppliers.

Seen these on e-bay

Front: 7.5" x 17" et 37 B66031183
Rear : 8.5" x 17" et30 B66031185

Question for those of you that know all about mercedes wheels - would these fit my car and would the 8.5" wheels fit the rear of my car and would they need different bolts ? spacers?

My wheel offset is 37 - would the rears (offset 30) make a huge difference? - would the calipers clear?

Stud diammeter 112mm - are my studs 112mm

Cheers

Just checked this site and it looks if the rear wheels are not suitable :sad:

Any views on this?

I am about to purchase 8.5" x 17" rear wheels for my W210 - what size tyres should I consider for these rims. My front rims are 17 x 7.5" with 235/45ZR17 tyres.

I don't won't to change the gearing or handling / steering Charachersistics

Thanks

Most new MB's come with chrome painted wheels now, there are light and black chromes,,I still like the lighter ones best
