I've recently taken the battery on my W210 E300 TD estate and I've since found that the one-touch window function has stopped working, and also all windows are difficult to close. For example this morning the passenger window simply wouldn't close, I'd press the button and it would sometimes go up an inch and sometimes just stay where it is. Switching the car off and on again seemed to help and eventually after about 10 mins I managed to close it. I tested other windows (although didn't fully open them) and found the same problem with all of them!

Before the battery was replaced all windows worked perfectly.

If anyone could point me in the right direction of what the problem could be that would be very much appreciation -thanks.

There is a procedure for resetting the windows.

You may wish to do a search on the forum, but from memory you should hold the window switch in the up pos'n for 10 secs, then repeat in the down pos'n. Someone will be along to correct me shortly I am sure...

As RPE2 says, they forget their top position when the battery is disconnected so need resetting.
Get the window up - it will go up, but it can take a min or so of button pressing sometimes, then press and hold the up button for 10 seconds. Then do the same on down.

Had the same problem on a previous Mercedes. Mechanic at MB dealer said, first run the engine and leave it running so you reset with full normal running voltage. Now, two positions on window switch. One is auto and sends window all the way down. Don't use that one. Use the position that lowers till you let go of switch. Take window right down and hold for two seconds. If quiet, you will hear click of relay. Then raise window right to the top -again using the position that stops when you let go. Hold two seconds. You may hear the relay click. Now it is reset. It worked for me.
If problem persists there is resistance somewhere probably in the track.
