I have a W210 E320 cdi estate 2001 with surprising and depressing amount of front wheel arch rust. The corrosion is tracking in from edge along paint/steel interface not through the steel but has reached the outer main face of the wing. I have a feeling this model is prone to it? It would appear quite straightforward to deal with this rather than fit new wings which seems an unnecessary expense. However, ideally the wings need to come off so I can get them ‘on the bench’ but are they bolt on and if so is it an easy job or nightmare requiring specialist equipment etc? I have read all the threads etc re Mobilo/warranty terms and conditions etc and there's no chance I'd be able to claim for this. I have also read with great interest the information about models and galvanizing. This tells me the only real solution is to abandon the W210 and move on to a 'galvanized' post 2003 W211. Presumably that would mean body rust was something only found in history books?!
I look forward to your advice. PeterM
