just my opinion only

Welcome to the forum..

Would have thought it best for dealer to carry out the work, otherwise if your unlucky enough to prang it & the airbag fails to open, then the insurance will use this to wiggle thier way out of any claims arising.

What sort of mpg are you getting from the 280?

Regards,
Keith.

Thanks for the reply. as per the MPG the Computor tells me 24MPG for my journey to work,8 miles of mixed driving, I have got up to 34MPG on a run. The overall MPG after 1200 miles of mainly A and B roads is 26.8MPG. I must say its better than my old 99 528iSE, that was about 25MPG.

Tony.

Thanks Smucker.

Sounds like your old 528i is a match for my older E280 mpg.

I get around 24mpg also, but havn't tried it out on a really long motorway cruise yet to get a better idea of cruising mpg.

If it 1/2 way meets yours at an astounding 35mpg, I'd consider myself fortunate considering the mileage its done .. & about to do. hopefully!

Regards,
Keith.

Guys,
for the record - my E240 is supposedly less economical than the 280 due to being slightly underpowered. On a long run (100+ miles) I can get 35-37mpg.
I regularly see 30-35 on a daily commute over the pennines so 35 on an E280 should be easily achievable over a distance.
