Hi.I have 2003 E320,w211 and i find in my dash display, message brake problem visit workshop.I ask my mechanic for help and hi find i have one brake sensor used up.So i bought all four brake pads and rotors and 3 sensors brand new(i need that anyway)and my mechanic installed that for me.In the time when he been instaling the front driver brake sensor he found that the sensor which i bought suposse to be different for this wheels. three sensors which i bougt with brake pads have circle conector, but for the front left wheels i need sensor with square conector,so i drive this car without this one sensor for one week then i bought the new sensor and my mechanic installed it for me. But after i had new rotors and new brake pads and new sensor the message from my display it is still there.I visit MB dealer and he said that the message on my display after all this changed which i did , should disappeared without any resets. My mechanic is certifed mechanic and he do all works well,so any idea what is wrong with my brakes?Or do i need some reset after all this works which been done?Thank you for your help Roman.

you need your car plugging in to a diagnostic machine. the warning display could be because of many many reasons. where are you?

I believe the sensors work on a 2 wire principle so it sounds like one is open circuit. Possibly just a bad connection or else a broken wire. I imagine a proper merc indie could tell you, via the star diagnostic computer, exactly what is causing the error but a jobbing mechanic is going to have to do it by trial and error.

This is why we generally use Merc specialists. Whilst normal mechanics are often very good, they can't afford to have the car specific diagnostic kit that a proper specialist can invest in and mercs are too complex to diagnose without it these days - hell, even your brake light are run by computer now.

The brake pad warning has no re set to do. The sensor wire does not even have to be plugged in to the pad , as long as the circuit is complete, by the 2 wire sensor being plugged into the car.

I do not know off hand if a single wire sensor would even plug into the socket on the car,, but on the 211 it has to be a twisted pair sensor

Maybe not relevant but I changed the front discs sensors and pads on my 330i BM and the warning light stayed on till the local indy serviced the motor and reset the light for me :D

I had actually checked the rears in case they were worn but they were ok and it just needed a reset
:D
