Well my car now seems to be running like the stunning car it is again, after all the problems concerning Mercedes Benz Carlisle diagnosing different causes each time I rang them and ending up £2000 lighter (but covered by warranty company), apparently all the faults ranging from the engine management light coming on to the SBC Hold not working etc was down to the FLOOR SHIFT MECHANISM can any of you clever chaps tell me what this part does and where is it situated??.

Many thanks

It is an ECU that is fixed to the shift lever, it tells the gearbox and car what is going on, and where everything is with gear selection etc

Hi Malcolm,
Thanks for that, I was just interested in what had gone wrong with it to cause such catasrophic results.I think I have read on here somewhere that this is a pretty common failure.;)

Thanks once again
