Well, I've now enjoyed the W211 E320CDI A/G for 6 months of ownership but there are a couple of issues which need sorting although one may mean big bills ahead and time to get rid.
Firstly, engine temperature - currently it runs at about 60 degrees. I assume this is not the correct running temp and likely to be the 'stat. Is this an easy thing to replace? I also assume that's why I'm currently avaraging 32mpg and not hitting better than 45 on a run.
Second, crashy suspension - quite noticable when I go over a 1-2cm bump on my drive. Last time I had this was in my C270CDI and the cure was to replace the front suspension arms. This seems to have been recently done on mine (well one side). I guess the other side should be changed but is there anything else that needs checking?
Thirdly, at full throttle, the car leaves a cloud of grey 'soot' behind it. Is this normal for a diesel of that age?
Lastly and the (potential biggie). When I'm driving home from work in the evening, the first part of the journey is a 70mph run on a slight incline. The car gets up to speed and just under 2000 rpm but there is a slight vibration which appears to go if I drop to 4th and the revs go up to 2500 rpm. Now, some of that is down to the cheap-jack tyres on the car and poor balancing but I really worry it might be a Valeo problem. I've tried searching for a description of the symptoms but no joy. Any thoughts?
Hope you can help. The car is at the point where I need to either cough up £1000 for new tyres, stat and suspension parts or get rid before a big bil comes along.
Cheers
