If it helps i put a new battery on a w211 and 2 weeks of short trips to work put the convenience functions light on. It was winter time also. I was charging mine once a month.
They do seem very hard on battery's, it's almost like there's insufficient generating capacity.

I had the dreaded convenience error message on my 2004 W211 Petrol E320. Merc dealer said it was the battery, but after a new one (£100) it still appeared. It was later found to be a faulty earth strap. Petrol E320s have an 80ah battery, but diesels need the bigger 100ah model, in the boot.

I started the car again today, it seemed to struggle but went first time. I applied a meter to the poles and saw a consistent 14.42v, that seems ok to me. I think it's probably just new bat time, although I will do the drain test, once I've worked it out!

As a side note I would check your alarm siren isn't draining the battery to, my w211 used to only last a few days be the convenience message, untill I removed the old siren, now the same battery 2 years later will last 2-3 weeks before any message. The backup battery a on the siren circuit board leak causing a short, can cause the alarm to go off or in my case it was going off silently
