W211 catalytic convertor

Hi All

I have a 2002 E240 with 180,000 m on the clock with original Cat. Convertor

So far mot have passed but would like to know when I can expect to change it?
Also if it fails is it a complete change or can sections be cut and “new” sections be welded back

Has anyone faced this issue?

Shouldn’t need to change it unless you start burning lots of oil or you physically damage it.
