My 2003 E320 Cdi has developed most annoying creaky callipers, so much so that in traffic queues it is quite embarassing. It also has SBC. I have whipped the pads out of one and lightly depressed the brake and it is clearly the calliper creaking. It does appear the dust boot is slightly damaged but not significantly. MB Main dealer has told me all is fine in brake performance but to replace is around £400 per calliper fitted for which I dont want to pay. Is there any effective solution or spray, as appreciate I have to be careful what product to use?. Thank you Gordon

If it was the rear then maybe some idea's,,but I cannot think what could be wrong with the fronts,,are the fixing bolts really tight

Yes the bolts are tight but the piston appears to be creaking as it presses the pads. Gordon

Have you got genuine merc pads fitted? Sometimes you find that its the brake pad material that causes noises like this! a change of pad to a after market one sometimes cures the creaking, when the last pads were fitted were they copper slipped do you know? cheers Dave

Reading the first post, I think he's eliminated the pads. Rather than getting MB to replace them with new ones why not get an indie to fit reconditioned calipers? Should be somewhat cheaper?

reading the first post, i would kindly suggest he refrains from pressing the pedal with the pads out. with sbc the results could be either amusing, problematic or painful!!

Thanks for this, I have enquired but apparently special diagnostics are required to reset the SBC, I think I will try the PTFE spray as this seems a elatively easy starting point. Thanks for the note Gordon
