I need to replace starter motor (2003 model) and manual says, "to access upper mounting bolt (Torx head) use a 'long' extension across top of gearbox".
Has anyone done this job (any advice welcomed) and know how long is 'long'?
I have a 250mm + 125mm in my tool box ... is that long enough or will I need to purchase another 250mm bar?
I'd hate to start job and not have the tools to finish it.

I have done this job on my e320 engine which is basically the same engine.
I used a few extensions almost the length of the transmission and a knuckle joint.
I have to remove my trans again shortly :( and remember the top Torx bolts are a real pain, not so much removing but refitting
I did have my trans gearbox mount off when I got to the top starter bolt which did give me a little more space.
