Hey everyone,

Towards the end of this year I was planning to replace my car and this was set in stone but I’m a little worried with the rising living costs and thinking spending about £10k on a new car isn’t the best idea at the moment.
My thought was to bring a new lease of life into my car a bit more power and a little more fuel economy maybe a solution.
Has anyone mapped one of these E270’s before?
It’s the 177bhp version NOT the 170bhp version in the C270. If so is there much of a difference?
And was there a rise in fuel economy im getting about an average of 48 mpg this summer going too and from work so hitting over 50 would probably convince me to keep it.
Thanks!

The OM647 does map quite well, I took mine to ~225 bhp and ~480 torques, then ran it like that for about 100k over 3 years. Nothing wrong in that time outside of any other typical maintenance.
I did have the EGR mapped out at the same time to try keeping the inlet that but cleaner, but I think in the end it really needed the manifold stripping and cleaning properly.
MPG wise it ended up being about the same, maybe half an mpg lower as an average.

I have done a few, and our first courtesy car was a C270 CDI

Great returns and more MPG, engine is under stressed as is, and only runs out of air due to turbo size.

Seems like a no brainer (but I would say that :p )

Not to hand I’m afraid, this is going back 10 years now, but was on two separate Dyno’s at different times and both were within 1% of each other (actually the second dyno read slightly higher, but I put that down to it being middle of February and still quite early in the morning vs the first run which was mid afternoon in May time I think).

Same with the 647 vs the 612, bigger turbo (strait off a 642 as I understood) would get another 30-40 bhp and 65 torque iirc without really trying

Yes! The 320cdi turbo was a relatively straight forward modification. Then you run out of fuel but usually not worth more money for more power.

As always, its a diminishing returns type thing.
