Hi every one,

I just let an alarm and tow bar fitted to my W211 E320 CDI 2006 via a local garage. The installation of the alarm went good without any problem. They test the 7 pins plug of the Thule Towbar after mounting it but it did not show any electricity in it. The garage contacted Mercedes Benz helpdesk but they told them it will not show any electricity by testing but it must be really connected to a caravan in order to work. Today, I connected it to my caravan but it is absolutely dead! The only thing I got is a message on the dashboard telling that (The break lamp does not work)! While in reality the break lamp is working :(.

Any information  will be highly appreciated.

By the way, any idea about the deactivation of the reversing parking assistance when towing the caravan

Regards,

Robert

In order for the electrics to work properly there is a special connector that plugs into the rear SAM.

this info is all on a MB worksheet AR31.19-P-1300T

I can send you a copy
