W211 E320 - Can I play MP3s in Comand

Does anyone know if I can play home-made MP3 CDs in the CD-autochanger in my newly acquired E-Class (E320 2004). I think the COMAND unit is an NTG1.

I have been able to play home made audio CDs (I only use Sony blanks as they are the correct thickness) without any problems, just as I did with my earlier C-Class (W203) but I don't want to try an MP3 disc in case it won't eject.

i dont think they have the capability to read MP3 discs. try one and let us know. the disc cant possibly get stuck because the disc is in MP3 format. it will either read it and work, or wont read it and give you the 'no cd' message.

Yes a normal sized disc recorded in MP3 should work, and it will certainly eject.

Been trying to use MP3 CDs on my CD changer in a 2003 W211. Data card states it will play them. So far no luck. Been trying variety of burning methods and burning software. All the CDs I've tried eject without problems.

Ntg1 will play mp3 but not via cd changer, put your disc in the comand unit where you would put your DVD discs, that's the slot on the top of unit.

Thanks - the DVD slot does in fact play MP3s as you suggest, but I didn't realise it would play DVDs as well. I just assumed that the slot was a left over from the standard non auto-changer option. Wow! Thanks everyone for the info.

If you have VIDEO button on the ntg1 comand than you should be able to watch DVD's on it as well.

My SL350 NTG1 with CD changer does play MP3 CDs in the six-disc changer.

However, I had to play about with the settings on the computer used to burn the MP3s to CD, until I eventually found it worked when I burnt the CD with a format setting of "ISO 9660 - Joliet Disc at once".

I think that the earlier CD changers only read normal music CDs with 10 or so tracks, while the later ones (mine is 2006) play CDs with 100+ MP3 tracks in folders.
