my brand new lights (had a car crash which meant they were both replaced) have now failed on the right side at least for dipped beam, these are xenons so what does that mean, full beam seems fine, is it a fuse ? or a xenon bulb ? if a bulb surely they shouldnt fail after one month of use ?

You do have a guarantee but does it cover bulbs

You buy them cheap on Ebay, do not pay the 1000kr dealer price, you should try the lamp in the other side to be sure it is the bulb rather than the control ECU or the igniter

update:
I brought the car to the garage, explained the failure and asked them would they cover it under warranty seeing as the lights were completely replaced brand new only a month earlier, they declined to comment but asked to take the car in for investigation for the day,

they took the car and rang me up later that afternoon to say the problem was resolved and fixed under warranty, unfortunately the guy who dealt with me couldn't speak english so as far as i understand it there was nothing wrong with the xenons it was an external control module that had failed, they replaced it (i think) and all is ok now

Too hard to say as some modules are in the actual lamp unit Niall, the only one is the Lamp ECU, that is if it was that. be in touch soon :D

ok now i'm ****ed, i had the trailer connected today, drove somewhere, no problems, went for a walk, back in the car and the exact same warning message popped up again for the same light which leads me to believe the problem is a short or similar related to having the trailer (however I've used the trailer quite a few times since the repair with no problem at all)

so now i have the same issue as before, same xenon light warning and it is indeed off, so what are my rights here, will the garage tell me to get lost ?

Can any of you tell me which fuses control the xenon lights and where the fuse(s) are located so that I can check if one of them has blown, or is it a relay ? I feel irritated now as the garage had my car an entire day before to 'fix' this problem and i sure dont want to spend any money getting it fixed...

what do you guys advise me to do ?

and today i've got the same problem again, so i have to go back to the garage and complain yet again.... :(

I wish I could find the piece of paper i wrote the part number down on so I could at least research the part that is failing, what I do note is that the failure has only occured when i start the car, i.e. i've never seen the problem occur mid-transit anywhere, so sounds like it could be a surge of current or something that blows the module.

No other than the fault is there at start up,,, and start up is the time when these things fail more often than not, most electric things from computers to many other things go POP when you turn them on, in you case the voltage is much lower when cranking is taking place
