I have bought w211 merc e320 2005 which has a cracked internal sump, I have been advised it may require the engine to be lifted in order for it to be removed.

Can a chemical repair be done?????? any advise instructions please advise

Thanks in advance

ive never heard of an internal sump! the engine does need to be lifted, i believe to remove the sump from the engine. if its an internal problem, it will need to be removed to allow access to repair it, and in that case, id probably replace it anyhow as most of the cost involved will be the labour!

Yes in most cases a chemical repair will work well as there is no pressure in these things, a member here did one a few weeks back

hello there, can you explain what you mean by 'internal sump' please.

should we assume that this is a crack caused by hitting some debris or a really high speed bump or kerb? and that you have an oil leak from this crack?

if so you will need the oil draining completely. you will need to clean the area thoroughly with a solvent like 'brake cleaner' (1001 uses ;)). you will need to apply a product such as 'steel stick' (follow the instructions), allow to cure, then replace the oil and enjoy a cheap repair. all this assumes th crack is accessible, which it will be if it is impact damage. could you post some pictures? that would help a lot.

It's the aluminium oil pan which is under the engine above the lower sump wher the oil is drained from.

It has a crack all the oil has already leaked away, the crack can be seen as te garage
have dropped the subframe. What the best solution/chemical to apply ??

Can anyone supply me removal instructions, once again your help is appreciated.
