Regarding insurance, I had a little play with my insurer's website. A similar age E55 almost doubled my insurance on my E320CDI (on the exact same business use and mileage terms) - to £400 all in.

Interestingly, a newer E63 would have been about £30 cheaper... :lol:

It's a big step up from an E280 and yes I'm giving the car a lot of respect until I get used to the power. Accidentally left 2 black marks pulling away from a roundabout yesterday such is the fine line between a smooth takeoff and a mad one.

Insurance appears to be a lottery between your postcode, age, and experience/penalty points. I just can't understand the way some companies access the risk involved.
My insurance was about to rise from £233pa to over £1200 with my current insurer. I had to cancel and go elsewhere.
Adrian Flux never replied to my request for a quote, and I'm with a company that has a diabolical reputation. The next renewal will see me going with a "name" insurer.
