At long last, I'm in a position to get an E55 and after searching all the usual outlets, one came up only a couple of miles from my house. A phone call this evening to the owner and I have a viewing tomorrow evening.

Unfortunately, it's an 04, not a 54 with revised electrics but it is advertised as fully loaded with a full service, new tax, MOT, tyres and brake pads.

It's going to be a long 21hrs, so I just hope it is a good one.

Good luck..i looked at many before I got mine, some that where described as A1 where a real let down...buy wisely if not good walk away, they can burn your pocket...mines an 04 and has been excellent so far...there are many buyer guides on the forums...

All I can say is.....wow!

I have owned some fast cars in my life but nothing..absolutely nothing took my breath away like that E55 on kickdown.
I have bought it, and pick it up on Fri evening. One or two issues need to be sorted. Heated front seats malfunction and advised not to use (possible blown fuse for some reason. Keyless go works on all doors except drivers. Suspect it will be a new handle around £350. One small parking graze on osr wheelarch.

It does come very well specced with Linguatronic, rear and side blinds, electric sunroof, heated/cooled massage seats, fridge, dvd/tv (needs digi tuner for tv), new Falkens and brake pads all round, new MOT 6months road tax and a full service last month. I am a happy bunny tonight:D

The keyless handles are down to £125-£150 now but most unpainted.

Thanks for the comments gents.
Yes, I did an HPI. All good with just the reg change in 2009.
I can't believe you can find such performance for a shade over £8k.

Photos at the weekend

The change of insurance has raised its ugly head!
Just rang my insurance and the cheapest they can give me is paying an additional £1230 which will take me up to Feb when my current E280 expires

A quick check on insurance comparison websites finds a new 12 month policy for £387 with protected NCB, legal cover, courtesy car, European cover, windscreen cover and audio equipment. Oh that also covers the other half driving too.
Company name is One Call Insurance with UK call centres and website. Never heard of them and not sure whether to take this yet. More digging needed.

Aren't there a decent insurance company who post on here Malcolm? Maybe they can help him out?
Cannot remember what they are called

I used them last year, found them to be the cheapest (but not for at renewal time though). Seemed all OK, everything done on the internet, had to e-mail copies of driver license and other stuff to them.

Had no problems with them although thankfully never had to claim

Decided to take a chance on One Call Insurance as well. For £387, I'm happy but keep my fingers crossed I won't need to claim.
