I am looking for a replacement for my recently failed tailgate latch. It has a part number of A2117400135, although I believe this has been superseded by A2117400535

    A big one
If it's the same as the one on my facelift without power tailgate, the latest part is A1647400635. My tailgate soft close motor was intermittent and wouldn't even latch with a slam. I bit the bullet and bought the new part from Inchcape at a touch under £250 delivered, and fitted it a couple of days ago. Right as rain now.

If you PM me your VIN, I can check if that part also applies to your car via EPC. EDIT: just had a play on EPC, and I see your number (...535) is the latest for seven-seaters.

I had to use the car between removing the old latch and the new one turning up in the post:

Hmmm, trying to avoid paying that much, my main dealer quoted £235 and was a bit shocked.

My car is a 53 7 seater and I have been trying to sell it for the last month, gutted this has gone wrong now.....

    Thanks for your post.

My motor gone awol also. Did anyone find a way of making it manual closure only ?

What is the power input feeds on the multipin connector so I can try this before ripping apart ?

It is often just dirty micro switches within the locks

At least you are optimistic ! (tailgate light problem eventually was mucho cash for new rear light cluster + sensor unit flooded by rear wash fluid, but thanks for info on how to get in the tailgate) I'll open up the plastic housing carefully till the welded tags snap off and see what I can do cleaning up the microswitches etc. At present there's no motor noise even when you manually close the latch. It was getting lazy recently until stopped altogether. Is there any virtue in bending the lugs on the metal housing bit and trying to get in that way, or will the spring fly off ?

The wires do break in the rear door hinge area you need to be sure that you have 12v getting to the door lock motor

To get the latch motor out I need to disconnect the yellow and red air pipes to the interior handle. How to do ?

Well I got it working by pulling Fuse 11 in the rear fuse bank (7 was the wiper motor, I think), cleaning and re-fitting. Keep kingers crossed it carries on......

Thanks for pointer to check the the fuses before assuming worse case scenario.

    Hi there,

Sorry to resurrect a very, very old post.

The problem just started on my 53' e320 cdi estate tailgate.
The door will start get pulled in but it starts making noise half way in and then stops.
I can still close the door by slamming it so the pulling action doesn't start.
Does this mean a new lock or it can be fixed?

    Best regards,
    David.
