Push button, motor works, no water from rear windscreen nozzle. Used needle to unblock nozzle, but no different. Doesn't appear to be any water in loadspace area or dripping from trim in tailgate. Front and headlamp washers both work fine. Any ideas please?

It is possible hose is split behind lining and running down behind offside interior light. Or perhaps it is kinked. This is a time consuming problem to fix.

Hello Malcolm – that’s very kind of you. Are there any special tools required to remove the various trim fixings?

Sorry for the delay,,I have sent two more papers, but as shown, only go as far as you need to, to get to the components.

Re tool a flat blunt narrow kitchen spatula is good for removing panels, most are held on with spring claw clips and one needs to feel brave when forcing the plastic trims off

It's a fix!

Firstly - grateful thanks for Malcolm for the info that made the job much much easier.

Before removing the headlining I thought I'd trace the pipe route backwards from the spray nozzle. Upon removing the rear section of the driver's side internal rear wheel arch trim I found that the pipe had come apart at a union. Simply pushed the pipe back onto the union and - job done!

No idea what caused the pipe to come off the union as it's in an area inaccessible to the driver unless you start stripping trim, however I wonder if the spray nozzle got blocked with winter crud and the pipe simply blew off the union at it's weakest point?

Plenty of water in and around the area (much of it soaked up by the wheel arch sound deadening foam liner) but I've left the trim out and I guess it will dry out quickly.

Perhaps connected?? I've been having a problem with an alarm sounder going off (see recent post) and notice there's a little black box with lots of wires going to it located in the firing line of the detached pipe - could it be the anti tilt ECU perhaps?

I hope Sussex202 finds the same solution - it's a lot easier than rempoving the headlining.

Mind over matter, and headlining in a heap on the floor, that is the time to fit a sun roof

Well - many thanks to both of you. Exactly the same solution! Removed the internal wheel arch trim and discovered the pipe had separated at the union. Reconnected the pipes (with a little additional tape to secure it) and "Bingo"! We now have a fully operational rear windscreen wash again.
Interestingly, I'd also had a couple of rogue alarms recently - perhaps this was connected...?
Anyway, as said - many thanks to you both.

Good news indeed. I left my trim out to allow the area to dry and also raised the spare wheel on some blocks to allow airflow around the wheel bay which was wet. That's interesting about the alarms - mine hasn't gone off since.

Malcolm - could the black box in the firing line be to do with the alarm system?

Thanks Malcolm. It's item 20 on your third diagram. Perhaps the unwanted precipitation in that area caused an occasional short! However, fingers crossed that we have now resolved the problem.

Water pipes with joins should never pass by an ECU, that is poor thinking in design
