Do you have the instructions for replacing these as mine are starting to go.
A quick look tells me it will be a challenge but as ever your help would be appreciated. My email is neiltaylor123@btinternet.com

Always best to use the PM to avoid this as the edit times are only 15 mins.

W211 tailgate struts

Hi,
I intend replacing the struts on my 2004 W211 and have bought 2 new ones from local MB dealer. Can anyone send me the fitting instructions mentioned in several of the threads? Many thanks

Hi all, new to the forum and I have the same issue with the tailgate on our 2009 w211 estate.

Malcolm, would you be kind enough to email me the instruction on changing the gas struts?

Many thanks.

Also does anyone know if these are direct replacements? They seem cheaper than expected and don't look that similar to what little I can see of the current ones.

Many thanks, Rob

Many thanks. Having searched the Internet, those seem to be the only ones I can find. Is there somewhere I'm missing?
Thanks, Rob

I still cannot answer to help much, they say that they are for your 211, so give them a go, much cheaper than the mercedes version.

Just had the tail struts on my W124 replaced at SPR Autos. They also sorted out the rear wash system as well, a valve needed replacing. :p

New here and my first post. Would any kind person please direct me to where I might get instructions as to fitting the above mentioned gas struts? Always dreamed of owning such an amazing car but the 46K price tag made it a little prohibitive! Waited until I found one 12 years old, 186,00 miles and a few 'issues' but in excellent physical condition. I'm pretty practical and so a few instructions and I'll get to work! Thanks in advance.

Thank you sir.

How do I find out what kind of suspension I have?

I ask because the car occasional sits really low at the back particularly after a couple of days not driving it. Once I start, up it comes and off I go.

The ride is a bit lumpy back offside unloaded but I've never had such a huge estate before so imagine this may be normal?

Simply love this car. I paid 3200 for it. The body is great and it starts every time. My command radio/cd/dvd occasionally drops out for a few seconds then comes back for an hour or so on long drives then sorts itself out. The sat nav isn't interested and despite a cd being in it always says it's not there. Not bothered though, least of my worries.

The estates always have hydraulic rear suspension.
