W211 fuel pump? Gauge shows fuel but is empty

Hello

I replaced my fuel pump around a year ago with an after market one (I know mistake)

The car now stops running even though the gauge shows it as being a third full.

Has anyone had this issue and can you please suggest a solution for me

Well you dont know if its fuel or spark do you .

Does the car restart if you add fuel?
If so, I'd say the fault points to a faulty fuel level sensor inside the fuel tank. The sensor is telling the gauge its got more fuel than it actually has.

saddle tank syndrome?

I have had this problem with one of my estates. As mersum 1es said, it is saddle tank problem, or rather the problem in my case was with the high pressure pump failing to provide the necessary syphon effect to transfer the fuel in the tank.

Two options: repair the pump or keep the tank above 50%.
