Over the past few days I have noticed my W211 E320 Cdi (2003-53) headlamps stay on when driving even if I switch from Auto to "0". Any ideas please as today I actually wanted them off but it was not possible. Is it a dodgy switch or something else? Thanks

Hi Gordon, you will have to plug into STAR to see what is going on, it will be something to do with a front SAM

Maybe you set it to always on from the menu. try to see if it's on in the Lightning menu.

If it's set to yes it will always be on while the engine is running.

Be ware that some countries in Europe have a laws that force you to use the lights always

True John I forgot that bit, there is an adaptation for daytime running lamps, maybe that is activated

I had the same problem with a 2002 C220cdi. The lights came on all the time, but during the day the dashboard did not light up, this only happened when it started to get dark.

It was the automatic lighting control module that was faulty. It was replaced under warranty (2 days before the car was 3 years old). Four years later and it is still OK.
