My heater on my e500 isn't working, everything else, directionality, AC etc is fine, just no warm air. Is it safe to assume the duo valve is toast, or are there other possible causes?

Cooling system seems otherwise fine, although it was possibly topped up with some dirty water before I collected it. Nothing terrible, just some small particles floating on the surface. I'll flush it at the same time, Cheers

Or could it be the directional control motor behind the dash? Any help would be appreciated!!!

This pipe gets warm, not as hot as the top hose. Ok, thanks Star, I shall have a go at changing it.

I'm getting a new one from MB Grangemouth, they're excellent TBH. Along with my gear oil, filter and coolant. TBH, this is my last V8!!!! Petrol isn't probably going to be this cheap again

lucky it doesn't have a S on the boot, yours should be almost free to run in comparison

start saving up for a CPS and a set of coil packs, I hope you get real springs made up of real grown up metal and not some pathetic air garbage ?

Hey, I love my AS!!!!! (Why, is it going to break?)

What's a CPS? The air doesn't sink over time, and it works perfectly. It's had a new front strut I think.

My CPS began to fail at around 70k miles, M113 engine. Easy to replace, provided some ham fisted person hasn’t been there first.
Had no issues with Air Suspension nor coil packs on my S211 he says, now where’s that bit of wood !!!

Today while driving the E320 cdi the heating did this exact thing, everything works, just no heat in the front or rear.
Duo valve looks to be the culprit, just looking for confirmation and to its whereabouts. Not good to have a freezing car in this weather :(
Cheers Peter

Below the master cylinder, drivers side. You might get away with tapping it with a long spanner or similar. Could buy you quite a long time.

Thank you Matthew will give this ago on Friday afternoon, the Missus will be having to use the car till then, then she will appreciate my EClass if I get warmth through the vents. She refers to it as a 'heap of trouble' in the electrics department...............Though I am afraid she might be right, there are so many electrics going wrong with it it makes my r230 more reliable even after driving it through a flood.

Not yet Rus, that's in the diary for Friday afternoon, though its crossed my mind that it could be SAM related.
I can get better walking access to my tools now that some of the scaffolding has been removed and some enthusiasm will be restored :D

I found the culprit, gave it the suggested precision adjustment and hey presto heat coming in through the vents :)
Lets hope it stays this way for the rest of Winter. How on earth does one access this to change o_O

Get it changed as you know it’s going to fail when it’s -5 and blowing a gale outside. Take wiper mech out and a bit of fiddling and hey presto it’s done. Cheap as chips too.
