Just bought a 2007 E320 with command sat nav (ngt1, DVD).
I am now deeply unimpressed with the Command Sat nav compared to my 2 year old garmin "just stick in on the window" sat nav (or the two similar I have had before it over the last 10 years!).

It does not seem to have full post code look up, it always seems to want me to whittle down the address by location first even for post codes, which has lead to several frustrating attempts to locate my parents home in Lincolnshire with no luck. I bought a v12 DVD map update with no visible improvement.

I am just about ready to trash it and see about a dynavin replacement. Am I missing something? Is there an upgrade option which would be simpler or better value? I can't find anything searching the form and I'd really welcome some advice. thanks Lee.

Looked at NGT2.5

Search for ntg2.5

Thanks, I had already looked at that, from the screen shots I've seen it does not seem to be much better than ngt1, compared to after market alternatives.

Does it have full postcode search and POI like speed cameras and speed limits?

OK ngt2.5 its does full postcode search, what else does it do

Found something on NGT2.5 says the POI are crap (still sounds worst than my old cheapy garmin) but does do full postcode.

What I want mainly from a sat nav is:

1. Full postcode
2. birds eye view, not just a map view.
3. Speed limits displayed.
3. Speed cameras shown.

Given the price of even a second hand ngt2.5 I can't see this as better value than a non-MB sat nav like the new android based Dynavin MBE-MOST.

I have the same comand as you and have learnt to live with it, has not failed me yet.
I do admit it is not as good as a tom-tom or garmin, no speed cameras or easy way to update.
In my last W211 I fitted a Dynavin and thought it was excellent.
It is the best IMO after market system than when fitted still looks like the OEM version

No Comand has speed cameras shown so best to keep your speed within the limits and you will find the actual navigation part is very good, if you must speed then get a little camera warning device, they are cheap and very small

Thanks, but I don't have the tolerance to stick with using the ngt1 it as it is, honestly this is the worst sat nav interface I have ever used. I'm not looking for a small add-on gadget, I just want to make sure I have it right, before I dump it for a non-MB solution.

BTW - Keeping to the speed limit is the point of wanting speed limits show up.

Dump comand and fit a aftermarket D/Din. I have a kenwood dnx9290bt and it does almost everything you can imagine.
