w211 lighting problem

Hello all , need some advice re my w211 E200 (2003). Turned on ignition and car started ok , but r.h.s headlight only came on without touching light switch, temp guage read +85 c and service break warning. Also when i tried the lights switch i had no lights either on the dash or on the outside.????

This is consistant with a water leak in the boot area

Or possibly the front fuse box, as all the components mentioned go through there, front sam area. (Back left under bonnet, near brake resoivor.

Get it checked out by a decent indie. These things aren't diagnosible without the right kit.
I do hope this isn't the start of 2003 211 computer issues cropping up.
The old man is having real fun with his at the moment. Battery randomly not charging and SRS/parktronic/stereo issues. The bill is currently over £1100 with a new alternator, battery control unit, battery and some network gateway all being replaced.
Possibly all caused by the alternator going south and blowing other devices I guess, but it's a nasty bill never the less. Still it would have been double at the dealer so small mercies and all that.
