Hello, I currently have 2 near identical w211s. One of them has memory seats/mirrors/wheel.
Does anyone know what is involved in retrofitting the parts to the other car?
So aside from the seats and the steering column I assume there is a control module and a load of wiring. Will any coding be required or will it plug and play? They are both early pre facelift cars.

Pretty much as you think, it’ll need all the wiring too and yes may need some coding to tell the car it’s now fitted if you want the easy entry system working as well as the mirror dipping when selecting reverse

So this has been a steady one. I have now fitted the seats, the memory module is under the drivers seat. I obviously needed the door card and the loom from the memory module to the steering column. The door card was straight forward but the loom went from the seat into the footwell, right round the back of the dashboard (dashboard out job) into the passenger footwell, it then took a complete u turn and went back to the steering column. I didn’t want to cut the loom but it is now about 10 foot too long so I’ll chop it anyway. The canbus connects by the throttle pedal.
The seats memory works without coding.
Steering column next.

You will need to swap the mirrors too. I have two pre-facelift S211's, one has a memory drivers seat and I swapped the mirror over as the wires are broken and none of the memory functions work.
There is an option in the dash settings to switch the easy entry option on/off or select between seat and steering wheel.
Was the seat a straight swap? My non memory seats are Designo and have the multi-contour option and I have been wondering if I can make a hybrid seat from the two.

So the steering column is in, I had to change the steering lock as they are coded to the key.
If anyone is to attempt this then make sure the replacement column has no steering lock or that you have means to recode it as the donor key, ECU and key receiver are required to remove the steering lock, luckily I have all these.
So the steering adjust memory function works, no coding required although it looks as though I will need STAR to get the memory/dip mirrors and easy entry working.

I think a straight swap depends on the year, in a word no, not for me, the yellow SRS connector was different, changing this involves removing the seat back to access the airbag squib and drilling out a rivet. The power wires were fine. The cars are ‘02 and ‘03 registered.
The subframe and all the plastics are different on the memory seats but I’m sure you could make a hybrid by adding your parts to the memory seats. There are spare connectors on the memory/power module, I assume these are for heating, cooling, dynamic etc.
The biggest hurdle for me was obtaining the loom from the seat to the car, read what I said about the loom going behind the dashboard for no reason, I assume this is something to do with it being a RHD car. Essentially there is a black and a white connector to the column and 2 brown CANBUS wires which connect to a CANBUS hub by the throttle pedal. I would remove as much wiring as is practical from a donor, removing the whole loom requires the dashboard to be removed, won’t be doing that again!
I have the mirrors, I will fit them too.
