Hi Folks,

Went to apply my parking brake this afternoon and the pedal went to the floor. The brakes need some attention - I was planning on doing discs and pads at some point anyway, so this might hasten that. I'd been advised by my local garage that the ratchet mechanism would want looking at (lubricating I think) at some point, so I don't know if it's related, or something else.

Any points/tips/advice would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Nik

Ratchet mechanism has a plastic component which is prone to failure, last time I had this fault, I had to buy a complete new mechanism.

Thanks for your reply, that's appreciated. I must admit I did assume it to be one of the cables coming loose.

This turned out to be one of the cables under the car - £23 for a replacement. A bit of a pain to fit, by all accounts!
