Well I've had the E320CDI a week and now the fun begins. ;)

On Saturday, the Parktronic started reporting a fault while I was in some stop-start traffic - the double reds and beep showing up on the front indicator bar although when I put the car in reverse, the rear indicator bar chimed in with the same fault.

The car was then left for 3 hours and the problem righted itself working fine when I got home.

However, start the car this morning and it's doing it again. This time, turning it off and on clears the fault (on Saturday, just swittching it on causes the red / beeps to start) but selecting "R" sets it off again. I tried removing & replacing the fuse to see if a reset works but no joy.

Before I pack it off to an indy to fix (not covered by the warranty - grrr), are there any quick checks I can do? Noting that I am a complete klutz when it comes to car mechanics (I can just about replace a wiper blade).

Cheers

In my experience, the rears behind the wheels fail due to all the road crud being thrown at them - water ingress and all that.

STAR will tell you which one and they are plug and play to change, with no tools required.

You don't even need to raise the car, just lie underneath.

Just an update for you.

I took it to my local indy tonight, Parkham Garage in Wellingborough who put it on the STAR for me. As John said, it's definitely a sesnor gone but it's on the front.

Anyway, I'll be getting it fixed / replaced on Friday.

Just a pity that the sensor isn't covered by the warranty I got with the car....

Guess what? My Parktronic has thrown a fault this morning. Beeps for 3 seconds, 2 red LEDS in the display, then the light on the switch indicating it is disabled.

This is not funny. I've only had 2 days in this car without a fault now.

Looks like the amp,, I do not think a sensor can do this, even if very wet

Just read your other post, the dealer must offer some warranty for 3 months, have you spoken to him.

He wants to see the car next week, and we are going to discuss the next move. Talking is the key here. I'd love to see a STAR report, as I bet it has dates that these errors first started in it? I cannot believe that 2 days after picking the car up, all of this just "happened" at once... On my first inspection I saw it had the consumers turned off message. I assumed it was because the car had been idle for a while.

The consumers off message means nothing if the car has been standing for a few days

If they are driven every day for a reasonable distance, the batteries stay charged, id only a few short runs ever few days then the big one needs a good charge for a day once a month
