Have the windscreen replaced and ensure that the sensor is correctly setup when the new screen is fitted. Quite a few members have the screen fitted at a Mercedes garage by their insurance company so that when the windscreen company has finished Mercedes can check that the sensor is correctly setup.
Agreed - have your dealer sort it, they can arrange for the screen to be replaced and sort with your insurance, and can fix your sensor at the same time. It will need calibrating anyway so if you arrange the screen yourself you're still going to need to visit the dealer and then claim for the work which will be a pain, mch better to have the dealer organise it all. The dealer did mine - admittedly it was them that broke the screen but the new screen is fine and the sensor works perfectly.
My rain sensor isn't working either - I have a star-shaped stone chip about 20 mm across in the low centre of the windscreen. Wil this cause the rain sensor to malfunction?
Thanks very much - would they be able to help with another problem with my driver foldaway mirror not working? The passenger one works fine but there is no movement at all with the driver side.
