I need your help please guys. The car looked fine as I walked towards it but within 50 yards the red warning "Vehicle too low" came on and the back end is almost on the ground. The car is back home (and so am I) and the rear of the car is on it's bump stops.

Does this sound like a suspension unit or a pump issue.

History: the rear has been getting low if left unused for more than a week but has always returned to normal on start up.

Sounds like a leak that has finally destroyed the pump.

UPDATE: I left it for an hour or so, then restarted the engine: the rear slowly slowly raised to normal height. There was a bit of a rattling noise this morning on start up when the fault occurred that I now think could have been a frozen pump?? It sounded like it was coming from behind the NS dash board. Is that where the susp pump lives?

The pump is in front of the front wheel behind the inner wing rubber cover and just behind the fog light

The air inlet filter can get water in it apparently (not experienced it personally but have seen several posts on it on other forums) and the inlet pipe itself can perish and allow water into the pump. If either of these have happened it could well be icing up the pump.
