Folks,

I've just bought a 2004 320CDI Estate and three days into my ownership I've got the following error messages appearing whilst driving or whenever I select :-

Right-hand Tail Lamp

Right-hand brake lamp

Rear right brake lamp, Back-up light on

Rear left brake lamp, Back-up light on

Left hand tail lamp, back-up light on

Right hand tail lamp, back-up light on

When I press the brakes all the LEDs illuminate and indeed the OS LEDs flash slowly. The tailgate red lights come on... Presumably they are the backup lights.

Trawling this and other forums it would appear I either need new light units with all the regular and LED bulbs hard wired on or I need to find a break in the cabling, or solder in some little chip... Either way not best pleased!

Any suggestions? Presumably the lights are maIn dealer items?

Thanks in advance

Jib, no towbar fitted.

Television, they are working intermittently. Today I got no fault messages all day then on they came late afternoon. I've just had the OS lamp unit out and apart... Right there in my hands it initially worked, then it stopped and then became the slow flashing high intensity light.

Very odd behaviour because clearly the LEDs are working in both low and high intensity modes, but somewhere in the circuit there's a fault.

I've read about the replacement of the IC chips... My soldering is no longer what it used to be... Time for a new LED circuit board from MB... Unless they can be bought as pattern parts?

Is that the back plate and the lens?

I've a 55 E320CDI with the exact same problem (right hand lights).

Is the light simple to swap over?
