W211 Squeak Drivers side front wheel area

My dad's W211 E270 has a loud squeak from the drivers side wheel area. Most notiable over any bump, or uneven surface, and when you push down on the car over the wheel.

I have not had the chance to go take the wheel off and have a look yet, but is there a usual culprit here on the 211? Ball joint? Shock?
