Hi folks -

2004 w211 320 estate. U.K. based. The car lost braking power without warning, red dash and visit workshop warning came up. I Coasted to a stop put the car into park and it wouldn’t come out of park to be moved.

Fault codes from my Indy in the attached picture. Advice is that it needs to go to MB dealer for further diagnostics - can anyone advise if this is likely to be an SBC pump replacement (so prob not worth putting the money into the car as there’s also a pretty long list of service items also be sorted), or could it be something simpler?

Any advice much appreciated. Cheers, Ben

Certainly looks like the pump isn’t able to make pressure, there are a few places that refurbish these now and the price of a new remanufactured unit from MB (don’t have MB dealer fit it though, use and Indy for that) is pretty good now too.

Have you had the car long? It’s likely a previous owner had the white message about the SBC pump needing sorting and had it reset rather than getting it done properly and just extended,

I wonder if it's been reset previously...

Service items are service items and should not be put off, thats poor mainetnance. Sorry to say.

Get a MB reman part. Cheaper than new and as good as new with same warranty.

Cars need to be kept on top of to keep them on the road.

Thanks all, appreciate the guidance. Had the car about four years - wasn't away of a previous reset, would that explain the failure without warning?

Yep, unfortunately so, it cost about £50 years ago to reset, likely it was done just before you bought the car, £50 was much more attractive than £1k for new pump and fitting from MB back then unfortunately.
If you were lucky and lived in the US though it was covered for life after a class action suit again MB US
