W211 window open and close with remote

Make sure you keep the key pointing at the little IR receiver window in the driver's door handle and probably no more that 30cm away.

Looking on the EPC there are handle ends that do not have the window,its too hard for the moment to check on WIS

AFAIK they are standard fayre on all 211s. So I would guess that yours may have had a replacement handle at some point.

There's nothing on my datacard which relates to this either as standard or optional kit.

:-xyeap thats what i'm looking for them, and not the same as mine so it must have been replaced at one time or another

I tried it 5 years ago, it didn't work and was very disappointed as it works in w202. just tried it a few mins ago, it works but it not mentioned anywhere in the manual.

check whether there was a door replacement, it may open a can of worms you do not want to know

ok just done a lot more checking and actually i do have it on the drivers door, although due to the colour you cant see it unless up close and to top it off looks like it had got paint on it as well, so done a fair bit of cleaning and tcut and its now clean. Tried it and seems to work from about 20cm's away, well at least it does to dropping the windows but didnt work for putting them back up on locking. bit hit and miss i think?? might try and change the battery in my fob as its not been done in 5 years see if that makes any difference.

pity its not done over the RF as the IR isn't a great idea, especially as you have to be quite close and pointing directly at a rather small point on the drivers side door, not great planning there in my opion.
