hi after viewing this video on youtube about what happens when the wheel nuts are tightened too much, so I decided to double check the torgue on my wheel nuts,

i've done a quick google and found the value should be 130nm, is that correct ? what if the nuts have been over tightened before, which is quite likely, should i purchase replacements (new) and if so what are the correct size/dimension that i should purchase

thanks in advance for your help and advice on this, i want to make sure my 4 wheels are in a safe state when driving down to the south of France in June.

If I were driving down to the south of France then I would be ensuring that I could release the bolts in the event of a puncture. I don't rely upon the supplied brace. I carry a 17mm socket and an 18" Breaker Bar.

You are right to be concerned, but not overly so. Back in the 1970's/80's, the Institute of Road Transport Engineers, with University assistance, researched wheel losses on HGVs (LGVs). Their final findings were published in a document entitled "The Lost Wheels Mystery."

Whilst it now appears that the original publication is no longer available, there seems to be comparable information at http://www.transportengineer.org.uk/transport-engineer-features/rolling-down-the-road/21770

Edited to add that it is common practice for HGV's to have wheels re-torqued after 50 km or after 1 hour of non-use.

I also don't rely on the included brace and bring my own tool like this one
