This is a different issue, and not related in the slightest to Dipsticks etc, but I'm at my wits end trying to figure out how to start a new thread.....so apologies in advance. And if some one could put it the correct forum, I'd be grateful !!!
So my present problem arose when I had to remove the rear bumper on my w212 to do some work on the towbar, and this sensor ( see pic) came adrift. It feeds from a longer harness, which in turn is connected to a small plastic box attached to the bumper itself. Apologies for the quality of tghe pic....it was taken during a downpour, which at that point in time was flowing freely down my back as I tried to take pic. With regards to your issue I’d dry the bumper and the sensor and look at gluing it back in place. It looks like the plastic welds have come apart from the picture

Thanks Blobcat. That's what I'll do, it should have left a mark on the bumper where it was.

Then it should have its comrade on the other side of the bumper? I will go back working it this morning, and see if I can find where exactly it was attached to the bumper, and glue it back in situ. An iCarsoft scan should tell me then if all is OK.
