W213 Coupe Rear Emblem Removal

Hi guys,

I'm going to be collecting my W213 E coupe soon, very excited!!!
I'm looking at purchasing a black rear mercedes emblem to install on the back of the car. However, I cant find anywhere (videos or other threads) that shows how to remove just the star off the rear camera cover unit.
Ideally, I'd like to just take the star off and replace it. Does anyone know how to do this or how its held on?
Will the eBay badge work with the coupe, as I'm guessing the ebay ones just come with double sided tape that you stick on the back of the car.

Hi and welcome to the forum If you look at the one/ones on Fleabay they should show you how it is mounted, IE they will have little pegs on the back of the badge. They just pushes into some little plastic sockets in the boot lid. Just be careful how you lever the Chrome badge off, some broken finger nails I fear

Great, thanks for your reply. I've seen a few threads that say you need to detach the emblem from the rear camera cover and then remove the star from the piece that comes off.
I'm going to hopefully try remove the star only with some floss behind the badge and wrapped around the pins, then attempt to pull it off like that.
Is it definitely 3 pins that hold the badge onto the camera cover on the w213 coupe?

I've seen that video, but that's different as the emblem is on the main body.
On the w213 e coupe, the emblem is mounted on the flappy boot handle/retractable camera and unfortunately I cant find any tutorials for this.

I can't help with your problem but, just in case you are going by model numbers on Ebay, the W213 is the Saloon. The E Class Coupe, of the same era, has the code C238. To my eye, the Coupe star is bigger than the Saloon/Estate version.

Not 100% but I think that particular star is glued on completely
