Ok chaps,

My 215 has a Visseeo MB3000 fitted into the armrest cradle. No problems pairing my iPhone with it....

The problems come when I try to make or receive calls. Network reception in the car is terrible, at best 3 bars and most usually 1 or 2. This is in areas where I'd normally expect 3-5 bars. I'm guessing that this is due to the IR Cut of the glass, so is there some way I can make use of the built in phone antenna?

The other issue is the quality of sound. From my side people sound like they're talking through baked bean tins on a bit of string; at their end I sound like I'm stood next to a jet engine.

Can anyone make suggestions for improvement? Anyone have any fixes? Comandonline I'm looking at you!

I suspect this is the result of a replaced overhead control panel, which contains the microphone and IIRC the UHF amplifier. But that's only half of the problem...

So is yours knackered?

I've no idea. The iPhone has no connection to it though. The external antenna feeds into the cradle which has a connection to the external antenna port for the original Nokia 6310, remember they had that plug on the "shoulder"?

Something is shrouding the phone so stopping signal, probably the glass

Answered your own question ;-) Best you only drive with the windows down then and let all that lovely signal in

Aargh. Are you in a wind up mood today? ;)

I've actually considered that...

What i would like to know is if there is a way of:

Improving signal to my phone, from the external antenna.
Improving sound quality of the car kit.

There is no physical connection so not sure how you would, as you said with the old Nokia it just extended the ariel so this would give good reception.

Seems modern phones are not made to be used with insulated glass in cars

I've tried all ovvert place. Trouble is the 215 is effectively a very big Faraday cage, only the trunk lid is EM transparent.
