Bought my 2012 CLS a tailgate spoiler on the bay, imported from Taiwan. I got hit for VAT by customs but even so cost was under £100 (£70 for spoiler shipped and painted plus £23 vat and handling fee)
fitted it myself today with the included 3M (or at least 3M style) tape
Overall I would Very good fit and colour match. Paint quality is decent but not quite perfect. Needs a polish but looks great!
So first I prepared the tailgate by cleaning and coating it before I positioned the spoiler and fixed with masking tape, this didn’t work too well so I put masking tape at the rear too. Once happy with the placement I peeled the edges off the 3M tape just enough so it stuck out the side. I secured it in place with more masking tape then peeled the backing off the 3M slowly so it didn’t move position. Once done I applied pressure evenly across it to set it before removing the masking tape. End result, very pleased!
