W218 parking brake release

Hi my 2017 CLS350AMG has had a sticky foot brake which has been dealt with by WD40 onto brake cable but last week the hand release stopped working. The hand lever moves, the cable is attached at both ends (felt above the foot pedal & checked thro the dash side panel.
The ratchet can be heard & the foot rake holds but the ratchet does not engage so the foot brake releases.
Any pointers much appreciated.

If you remove the dash under tray and study the brake quadrant carefully your see the release angle into the quadrant has jumped out, you can refit it but it will keep jumping out!!

Had this problem with CLK (209) for years, just hook the pedal up with foot.
Garage has tried to fix with out success.
