Evening everyone hope your weekend has gone well and not too much time spent tinkering!
I thought I would change the little ambient lights under the rear seat and dashboard to something a little brighter so I could find all the bits I drop in the footwells.
The fittings which just pull out to one side are fed by 12 volts, contain a microscopic led and load resistors plus a diffuser.
The diffuser just pops out if you prise it from the opposite end to the socket, this also holds the circuit board in place. I got rid of those and replaced it with a white LED with series resistor and trimmed the length to allow entry into the loom plug and central location of the LED now they illumante things in a gentle way! Cheaper option if one of them goes duff too.

You could have wired 3 LED's in series or would that have been too bright

Hello,
Can anyone give me an idiots guide as to what I need to buy and how to install it to enhance the ambient lighting in the rear of my W220 S Class.

The dim orange lights are pretty pointless and I fancy something a little more powerful, not overly so, but just to enhance the overall effect of it.

Thanks in advance chaps!

Dan.

Fit some LED replacements, they are not monitored

Thanks for your reply...

Where do I get these from and will they fit easily without any modifications?

Cheers, Dan

I've been searching on ebay but I haven't found anything?

I've had been searching for things like "W220 footwell lights", maybe I'm being too specific if there is possibly a generic part that will fit.

Any chance you could post a link for me???

Cheers again, Dan.

You do not search for lamps, you only replace the existing bulbs with a higher output, they will be the festoon type, but they come in 3 lenghts

The only other way is to see if you can take what ever is in the lamps to a much brighter LED, as in the above post
